Scouts – 10 1/2 to 14 years

Farsley Group has two Scout Troops – Dragon Troop and Phoenix Troop. Whilst each meets independently of the other, both aim to achieve the same Scouting goals.

If you are aged between 10½ and 14 then Scouts is for you. Scouts aims to build and develop your confidence, sense of adventure and outdoor skills, as well as encouraging you to explore your beliefs and attitudes and be creative.

It offers you the independence to put these skills into practice at camps and on international trips. Scouts are encouraged to work together and take the lead on all sorts of projects, from community based work to planning games and activities for their meetings.

Scouts work towards their Chief Scout’s Gold Award by completing a number of Challenge Badges and Activity or Staged Badges of their choice. The Challenge Badges include: Adventure, Creative, Expedition, Outdoors, Personal, Skills, Team Leader, Teamwork and World Challenge.

If that isn’t enough there is also the Yorkshire Challenge to take part in. The award challenges you to camp out in different months of the year and to take on some great challenges, including:

  • Camping below sea level
  • Camping two metres above the ground
  • Camping on an island
  • Camping above 600m

Meeting times

  • Scouts (Dragons) Tuesday 7:15 – 9:00
  • Scouts (Phoenix) Thursday 7.15 – 9.00
Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
