Despite the lack of face to face scouting in 2020 due to COVID, Farsley Scout Group has continued to deliver virtual and remote scouting for our young people. Several of our Scouts achieved their Chief Scouts Gold Award of their own accord from home – the highest award in the scout section!

Several virtual camps took place and all of our sections – Scouts, Cubs and Beavers – managed some participation, including the Challenge 2020 virtual weekend in August 2020 and The Spring Thing in April 2021.

Our young people continued to earn their badges throughout – a testament to their hard work and dedication and that of our leaders.

This weekend, scouts and former scouts (now Explorer’s) from both Dragons and Phoenix Troops took part in an expedition, planning their route and carrying all their equipment to be self sufficient for a 2 days.

They took a route from Farsley to Bramhope campsite and back via Calverley the next day. This is the last challenge badge for most, resulting in them now completing their Chief Scout Gold Award.

Well done to all!

Put your phone down and what are you left with? Just teamwork, courage and the skills to succeed.’
